PAVA 2023-2024 Priorities
Our PAVA program helps ensure that people with disabilities are included in the election process. Civic engagement and inclusion of all people, including people with disabilities, is paramount to our democracy. We ensure that every qualified person with a disability has access to vote on Election Day.
The Protection and Advocacy for Voting Access (PAVA) program was created by the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002.
How does DRNY advocate through PAVA?
- We inform people of their voting rights and provides them with accessible voter information
- We provide people with the opportunity to register to vote
- We provide individual and systemic advocacy
- We provide training and education programs to increase informed voting in the community
- We ensure that people, regardless of disability, have the opportunity to vote
DRNY identifies barriers to each step of the voting process. From accessible parking, to properly functioning Ballot Marking Devices, DRNY is advocating for your access to casting your vote.
