NYS Justice Center 2026 - 2031 Strategic Plan
Over a decade ago, the Justice Center was given an extraordinary responsibility and mission: to prevent abuse and neglect, protect people receiving care in state programs, and ensure accountability and justice for those we serve. The Justice Center’s 2026-2031 Strategic Plan reflects our commitment to that mission, building on a strong foundation while embracing the opportunities ahead. Drawing on 10 years of data and stakeholder feedback, it charts our next five years through three core goals. Together, these goals will help the agency deliver its mission more effectively and transparently in both the short term and the years to come.
Our Future Strategic Plan Goals
Goal 1:
Expand how the Justice Center prevents and protects through innovative approaches.
Build new ways to measure progress and the impact of our work.
Share more information to expand the ability of the Justice Center and its partners to make decisions and act.
Create innovative prevention approaches that include providers, people receiving services, and families in the process.
Goal 2:
Create new ways to share the Justice Center's nation-leading expertise and learn from those who engage with us.
Design more formal ways to share lessons learned across the state and country.
Cultivate more opportunities for collaboration to gather input and feedback.
Broaden our community of partners, bringing in new voices and perspectives.
Goal 3:
Strengthen the Justice Center's processes to improve user experience and more easily adapt to change.
Invest in staff and their ideas to foster a culture of inclusion and professional development.
Review policies and practices to find areas where they can be faster and easier to understand.
Modernize our technology and processes to make how we operate simpler and more efficient.
Looking Ahead A Shared Committment to Progress
The Justice Center is committed to transparency and will release an update to our strategic plan each year. The annual update will include our progress toward our five-year goals, measurement data, a look back at agency activities over the past year, and a look ahead at the expected path to achieving the strategic plan goals over the remaining years of the plan.
